Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka Auditions May 16th and 17th

6:30 - 9:00pm
Chaska High School

Auditions will consist of singing, reading, and dancing and are open to 7 year olds on up.
If you have a child under 7 who wishes to be involved, please fill out an audition form even though they will not be formally auditioned.  Final cast may range in age from 2 to timeless.

"The Candy Man" will be taught for use during the singing audition, reading excerpts will come from the Willy Wonka script, and a routine will be taught for use during the dance audition.

As a teacher, I know how valuable summer is and will work with schedules to the best of my ability. In order to do so, please come prepared with all potential conflicts; ie vacation plans, camps, etc.

Here is a list of characters being auditioned including estimated time commitment.

HIGH = usually but not always 4 rehearsals per week.
Charlie Bucket - energetic, happy-go-lucky boy around 10 to 12 years of age who has lines, sings in 11 numbers including solo, tap dance, and fly.
Willy Wonka - the candy man approaching his retirement who has lines and sings in 9 numbers including solo
Grandpa Joe - former Wonka employee who has lines, sings in 6 numbers, and fly.


MEDIUM = usually 2 or 3 rehearsals per week until mid July.
Mike Teavee - gamer, texter, skater between 14 and 18 years of age who has lines and sings in 6 numbers including solo.
Ms. Teavee - suburbanite mother of Mike who has lines and sings in 3 numbers.
Veruca Salt - spoiled, rich girl between 9 and 14 years of age who has lines, sings in 6 numbers including solo, and fly.
Mr. Salt - rich businessman father of Veruca who has lines and sings in 3 numbers.
Violet Beauregarde - gum chewing tomboy between 13 and 17 years of age who has lines and sings in 5 numbers including solo.
Mrs. Beauregarde - coach like mother of Violet who has lines and sings in 3 numbers.
Augustus Gloop - boy between 12 to 15 years of age who loves to eat who has lines, sings in 5 numbers including solo, and fly.
Mrs. Gloop - mother of Augustus who supports his eating who has lines and sings in 2 numbers.
James - teen who has lines, sings, and dances
Matilda - teen who has lines, sings, and dances
Dancing Teens/Cooks/Oompa Loompas - 6 to 12 singers/dancers


LOW = usually 1 or 2 rehearsals per week until mid July.
Phineous Trout - news reporter who has lines and sings in 3 numbers.
Mr. Bucket - hardworking father of Charlie who has lines, sings in 3 numbers including solo, and tap dance.
Mrs. Bucket - housewife mother of Charlie who has lines and sings in 2 numbers.
G'ma Josephine - bedridden grandparent who has lines and sings in 2 numbers.
G'ma Georgina - bedridden grandparent who has lines and sings in 2 numbers.
G'pa George - bedridden hard of hearing grandparent who has lines and sings in 2 numbers.
Crowd - all age community members who sing in 4 numbers.
Squirrels - 6 to 12 who sort nuts and toss Veruca around.


And for anyone with a strong back, we are looking for 4 dedicated members of the Fly Team.  Fly Team commitments begin July 22nd and run through the close of the show.

Auditions!

Willy Wonka is a childhood favorite turned theater classic. Come try out for CVFT's production of Willy Wonka, based on the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl.


Auditions will be held at Chaska Highschool on Monday May 16 and Tuesday May 17. Callbacks will be held
Thursday, May 19th. Show up any time on the 16th or 17th between 6:00pm and 9:00pm to audition!
