A huge thank you to everyone who auditioned for Oliver!
There are several additional speaking roles that will be cast from the ensemble and workhouse boys when we begin rehearsals.
All rehearsals and performances will take place at Chaska High School.
Rehearsals begin with an All-Cast Meeting on Monday, January 16, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. followed by vocal and dance rehearsals for everyone. Generally, rehearsals will run Monday through Friday 6:30 – 9:00. We will make every effort to schedule a minimal number of rehearsals for the kids on Wednesdays.
We hope to have copies of scripts sent out to the principals within the next two weeks.
We are looking forward to seeing all of you on January 16. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

White Christmas is coming!....
It's hard to believe that seven weeks have already passed, and we're two weeks away from opening night for Irving Berlin's "White Christmas." It's been 7 tough weeks, I think, for the cast. Compared to many shows, the music and the dancing are more difficult in this production, and they demand more from the cast. I think this has both tested and challenged them, but in the past few rehearsals, instead of grimmacing or slumping in frustration at the end of a song - I've instead seen smiling, and even some "yes!" with a fist pump at then end of a number. It's that feeling you get when you have worked hard to accomplish something, and now you're acing it, and it feels good. Keep up the good work gang - you're audience doesn't yet know what a fantastic show they are going to see!

Are you ready for White Christmas Auditions???!!
Hey all you CVFT-ers and CVFT-er Wannabees.... Katy, Joan and I are super jazzed up for auditions! We hope you are too!
People often ask "How can I best prepare for my audition?" The answers are pretty simple:
- READ THE AUDITION INFORMATION HERE: http://cvft.org/auditions.htm. That way, you can audition for something that fits you. If you're 16, don't expect to be cast as Betty. If you're 60 - sorry - Bob is 40, max. We've listed the ages, vocal ranges, and other character information on the audition profile so that YOU can audition for the part that BEST fits YOU and your abilities.
- Make sure you pick a song that is IN YOUR RANGE and shows off your ability! You want to dazzle us, not baffle us. It's best to have a familiar song that we would know - say, a show tune! That way, we have an idea of how well you're singing it. If it's some obscure, minor-key-whatever, we'll have no idea what to think.
- Bring simple piano accompaniment: Sometimes people bring really difficult pieces. Alice is a wonderful accompanist, but it's not fair to ask her to read something cold that is really difficult. And the goal is to ACCOMPANY YOU so YOU CAN SHINE! She'll have a better chance of accomplishing this if the song is familiar and simple.
- It's best to MEMORIZE your musical piece. that way, we can see your facial expressions when you sing, rather than have your face buried in the sheet music. Remember, we only want about a minute of singing - that should be easy enough to memorize for an audition!
Finally - remember - this is an amateur production. Our goal in an audition is to make you feel comfortable and relaxed, and to treat everyone fairly. So come prepared, be confident, but if you stumble a bit - no biggie! We're all human. Just recompose yourself, and start over. We're just happy you're interested in joining us.
