"Frog & Toad" SNEAK PEEK!

TONY®-Nominated Musical, “A Year With Frog & Toad” at Chaska HS Auditorium - Hilarious Show - Perfect for Kids Age 3 to 103!

Don’t be fooled, the classic award winning book, “Frog and Toad are Friends” turned TONY nominated Broadway Musical, A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD may seem like just another play for kids, but audiences and fellow actors will tell you –this is a fantastic show for the whole family.
Kyle Szarzynski (Frog) and Guthrie Horgan (Toad) star in CVFTs upcoming not-to-be-missed show!
The whimsical show, produced by Chaska Valley Family Theatre, follows two great friends — the cheerful, popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad — through four, fun-filled seasons.  Waking from hibernation in the spring, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding, and learn life lessons along the way. Part vaudeville, part make-believe, all charm, A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD tells the story of a friendship that endures, weathering all seasons. Plus, The jazzy, upbeat score bubbles with melody and wit, making it an inventive, exuberant, and enchanting musical perfect for the whole family to enjoy!
The Fantastic Dancing Birds!

Get to Know: Ms. Hannigan!

Robyn Barziza Chargo

Leading Lady in Chaska Valley Family Theatre's Production, "Annie"

Robyn and her Orphans  -Chanhassen HS Theater- through Sun. Dec. 8th, 2013
Q: Three words that describe you?
Free-Spoken, Fancy Free, Ferocious :)

Q: What is your day job/real-life roles?
I work in the membership department of the Minneapolis Area Association of REALTORS®

Q. How did you get involved in CVFT?

One of my son’s best friends, Kevin Callaghan, was in CVFT’s production of Peter Pan.  We went to see it and thought it was fabulous! Soon after, I met Paula Atkins (Founding Member of CVFT) when I worked part time at Caribou in Chanhassen.  She told me about auditions for Jesus Christ Superstar.  I auditioned and was lucky enough to land a part and I’ve been addicted to CVFT ever since!

Q: First show?

Jesus Christ Superstar -2005

Q. Family Pets?

We have a beautiful 11 year old Golden Retriever named Lexi and a 9 year old, super cute, counter surfing Australian Shepherd named Cooper.

Q. What do you do in your spare time BESIDES CVFT?

In the summer, we love to be on the lake.  Boating, floating and just relaxing!  And in the winter…well, we’re still on the lake!  We walk the dogs on the frozen lake sometimes, but mostly – I  just like to be warm!

Q: Tell us a little about the character you play in "Annie"
I play the role of Miss Hannigan.  She is super fun! A little crazy, a little evil, a little bit of a drinker, a little bit of a kid hater, a little bit of a con artist, a little big of a flirt with every man who happens to walk by…but deep down…she’s just a softy! Haha!  She is a great character and I feel extremely fortunate to be playing her!

Q: Favorite restaurant?

Hazellewood Grill in Shorewood and Lago Tacos in Excelsior!

Q; Any pre-show rituals?
I drink lots of ….water!  (Yes, water! I’m not REALLY Miss Hannigan!) I also put bottles of water, labeled with my name, on each side of the back stage areas – Which reminds me…Note to all you rotten orphans….DON’T TOUCH MY WATER, YOU LITTLE BRATS!  IF YOU DO….YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED!!!!!

Seriously, I do like to stay quiet and kind of off to myself when I have roles with lots of lines because I’m usually very nervous!!!!

Q: Any final thoughts we should know about you?

I love CVFT!  This is my 14th show since I started back in 2005.  I love everything about live theater! I love that my husband, Steve, and I can participate together (he plays trumpet in the pit orchestra),  I love the rehearsals, the performances, the audiences, the nights when things go great and even the nights when things go very wrong!

Mostly, though, I love the people.  Every cast is different, and there are new people coming in all the time!  I feel like one of the old folks now and it’s fun being able to welcome the newbies into our little family!

The stage crews, box office staff, directors, choreographers and the folks in the orchestra are all such hard workers and so dedicated.  Everyone involved puts in so much of their time and effort to make the performances spectacular not to mention an unbelievable value. It’s quite an extraordinary group to be a part of.
